Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, this bespoke property in rural East Sussex has a footprint of 370 square metres.

Built as a single-storey family home with four bedrooms, all ensuite, it incorporates assistive technology and was built to be wheelchair accessible.

The property was built sustainably, which was an important requirement from the client. The garden was designed as a biodiverse, wildlife friendly haven, in keeping with the natural surroundings.

Siberian larch timber cladding weathers to a silver grey.

Built to Passivhaus criteria, the property has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of A, based on the latest assessment carried out on 30 May 2022.

The property sits on a Passivhaus slab that was designed inhouse. The slab is designed so that the foundations sit on insulation, so there is no ground contact, which enables the heat to remain within the property; it also stops the cold from the ground from travelling up into the house.

This property uses an electric air source heat pump with underfloor heating and radiators, with pipes embedded in screed above insulation, as its main heating source. Hot water is provided by the main heating system.  The windows are high-performance glazing.

Testimonial

“Myriad Construction built our beautiful home professionally and in trying post-COVID circumstances. They worked closely with our architect and us to modify and improve our design, troubleshoot problems that arose and create a high specification house that meets all of our needs and is environmentally sensitive.

Three years on, we are still delighted with how the house looks and performs and would highly recommend Myriad.”

- Alyson Farrell, property owner
